English Electric Echo

(1) Tonbridge to Skegness

On Saturday 18th September 2010 Hastings Diesels operated the English Electric Echo excursion from Hastings to Boston, Wainfleet and Skegness.

The train was well patronised with a routing calling at St Leonards Warrior Square, Battle, Etchingham, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Bromley South, Kensington Olympia and Finsbury Park thence down the East Coast main line passing through Hatfield and Peterborough to reverse at Sleaford. Our first destination was Boston before the final leg to call at Wainfleet and terminate Skegness. Some passengers left at Boston /Wainfleet catching service trains to Skegness (and vice-versa).

Our first set-down was at Boston;
now a shadow of its former glory.

On a personal basis my parents joined me as passengers on the strip. At Boston they were presented with the surprise of my cousin meeting us just for the run to Skegness and back.
